Hike from Moeling to Gumpoldskirchen

Our day started early. We left the house at 9:30 to begin our hike to Gumpoldskirchen. We walked through local vineyards. Dandelions and other wildflowers grew everywhere. Mary enjoyed the flowers and made a wreath to wear on her head. The sky was blue. The temperature perfect with a gentle breeze.

We arrived in Gumpoldskirchen around 11 am. I did not have a watch so I am not sure but I know that we were hungry for lunch. We walked through the town and found the perfect place to eat. The local vineyards all have farmhouse restaurants where you eat lunch and try their wine. It is the custom to eat outside in the garden. It was absolutely beautiful. We ordered lunch. Mary had a huge meatball and some fresh bread. I have no idea what I ate but it was wonderful. While the kids (or should I say Kinder) played in the garden and made slime the adults drank wine and coffee and nibbled on dessert. I tried some gourmet chocolate filled with wine from the vineyard. Chocolate and Wine - great combination. I'm not sure how they made this dessert. At first, I thought they were chocolate covered grapes but I was wrong. The inside was filled with a small amount of sweet wine. It was very good.

We sat and visited for a few hours and then headed for Moeling. We did not hike through the vineyards to get home but took another route. We hiked through the forest. It was very shady and cool. Halfway home we came across a golf course and playground called Richards. The kids played for a long while and then we continued down the path.

It was a magical day. We got back to Moeling around 6:30. Gave the kids a bath, ate dinner and put them to bed. Everyone was exhausted. A perfect ending for a perfect day.

Tomorrow we plan to head up into the Alps. We will take an hour drive outside of Vienna and then take a tram up to a high elevation. I believe that it will be another magical day.
